People have been having regular, basic penetrative sex for thousands of years, way before products hit the market to enhance our experiences in the bedroom.

But just because you don’t need any technology to have great sex doesn’t mean that tech gadgets can’t drastically liven up your sex life. That’s one of the big lessons we took away from CES 2020, the consumer electronics fair that took place in Las Vegas from January 7th to 10th.

CES is often where revolutionary, game-changing tech is shown by companies across a whole spectrum of spheres, from gaming to kitchenware to fitness. This year, for the first time, sex toys were allowed to be displayed, too.

Despite being consumer electronics, sex toys have been historically shut out by CES — until now. This year, they made a big breakthrough, and to celebrate that, here’s a roundup of some of the coolest stuff that was on offer (plus one particular sex toy that still didn’t the invite).

Morari Patch

Morari Patch

If you’re one of the many men who struggles with premature ejaculation issues, one company at CES 2020 is looking out for your interests: Morari. They exhibited a prototype of a patch meant to be worn on the skin between your testicles and anus that, in theory, will help delay or reduce sensation to your penis. It’ll also allow you to engage in all kinds of sexy fun without worrying that it’ll end far too soon. The patch approach is an interesting one considering the current top-of-the-line approaches tend to be sprays, but it remains to be seen how well this will really work.

Pulse Lubricant

Pulse Lubricant

Too many guys still don’t use or own lube. Sure, you can get by with spit and a particularly wet partner, but if you want to try anal, your partner’s running out of juice (literally) or simply produces less than average, you really need to get some lubricant in the mix. Pulse is hoping to make lube an easy and pleasant part of more people’s sex lives with their Warming Dispenser, which will plop out a dose of pre-warmed lube for you — no muss, no fuss. Whether you think that’s high-tech enough to ditch just a regular lube dispenser is up to you, though.

Womanizer Duo

Womanizer Duo

Most sex toys for women are vibrators of some sort, but the Womanizer, first launched in 2016, is a bit different. Rather than vibrating the surface of the toy directly against the clitoris, the Womanizer’s innovation was to vibrate air against the clit instead, using a patented airflow technology. The results speak for themselves — it quickly became one of the most popular toys out there, and other brands are already mimicking the concept. At CES 2020, they dropped a new toy that features an internal vibrator to go along with the external airflow mechanism. Talk about doubling down.

OhMiBod Nex-3

OhMiBod Nex-3

Ever had really mind-blowing sex while listening to music? Hopefully the answer is yes — some songs seem like music to have sex to above all else. The OhMiBod Nex-3 takes this concept seriously, acting as a Bluetooth-enabled vibrating cock ring that can sync up to your music-playing devices. That means both you and your partner will feel the vibrations in time with the music. Pretty sweet concept — just don’t put your music on shuffle, lest you run into a song with too high a BPM!

XR Brands Ergo-Fit

XR Brands Ergo-Fit

If you’ve ever been curious about being pegged, you should pay attention to XR Brands’ new strap-on, the Ergo-Fit … that actually isn’t a strap-on at all. Why? There’s no strap! The Ergo-Fit is designed to let a partner with a vagina turn their genitalia inside out, anchoring the dildo end of the toy to an inflatable part meant to nest snugly inside the vagina. It’s an incredibly clever approach, but whether it’ll produce noticeably better pegging results than a regular strap-on is up in the air.

YO Sperm Test

YO Sperm Test

Ever wanted to know what your sperm were really like? With a YO sperm test kit, that dream may be within reach without having to leave your home. The company’s big innovation is sending you your own sperm test, rather than forcing you to go see a general practitioner or fertility specialist. Sure, it’s cool, and getting to test your semen on successive days (or even from successive orgasms) is suddenly a whole lot easier.

Lora DiCarlo Baci & Onda

Lora DiCarlo Baci & Onda

A year after a controversial awards process that saw inventor Lora DiCarlo given, then stripped of, then re-given an award for the hands-free, blended-orgasm-focused Osé sex toy, she’s back with two new ones: the Baci and the Onda. The Baci is intended to mimic oral sex in particular, with the Onda intended to mimic being fingered. Neither will be available until March, but given DiCarlo’s history and the success of the Osé, it might be worth getting excited about now.

Crave Build-a-Vibe

Crave Build-a-Vibe

Nothing says the future like personalization, and what’s more personal than a sex toy? A sex toy that you personally personalized. That’s a mouthful, but it’s also a possibility thanks to Crave’s Build-a-Vibe booth. While the brand wasn’t offering a Nike ID-style full customization opportunity to the general public, attendees like PCMag’s Will Greenwald were given the chance to put together a Crave Duet Pro vibrator from its component parts.

Autoblow AI

Autoblow AI

One brand that wanted to be at CES was denied access over what might seem like a relatively strange reason: a mouth replica. Autoblow creator Brian Sloan was told he could only bring his brand-new Autoblow AI, a hands-free device that uses machine learning to give you the best robot blowjob ever, if he was willing to get rid of the human-looking mouth holes. Claiming discrimination against men, who, he claims, very much appreciate a realistic mouth at the end of their blowjob machine, he opted not to swap in featureless penetration holes and skipped CES. Whether it’s his loss or ours is hard to say, but it’s equally hard to deny that the Autoblow AI looks to be at the forefront of cutting-edge sexual technology — star treatment in Vegas or not.
